Technological innovations in most areas enable a continuous improvement of the daily life, facilitate processes and contributes to a better quality of life. It is no different in the automotive sector, with the appariton of more and more models and innovations to improve the experience of drivers and passengers. One of the auto parts that attracts a lot of attention is the automotive glazing, which not only ensures the safety of the occupants but also is a structural component of the car.
Saint-Gobain Sekurit, for more than 80 years one of the main manufacturer of automotive glazing, invests continuously in the innovations that are implemented in its glazing. This results in multiple technologies contributing in the comfort and quality of the vehicle. In Europe, the technologies the most offered by Saint-Gobain Autover, the official distributor of Sekurit Glazing for the aftermarket, are glazing with thermal and acoustic comfort and an integrated antenna. Get to know the characteristics of the individual technologies and their advantages for drivers and passengers:
Accoustic Comfort
dBCONTROL is a laminated glass which, thanks to the placement of an acoustic PVB film specially developed for acoustic comfort, offers better sound insulation properties than ordinary laminated glass. The film filters out high and low sound frequencies and offers the option of controlling or reducing the noise level inside the vehicle by 10 decibels.
Thermal Comfort
Compared to normal glass, glass with "Thermocontrol Absorbent" technology offers a high level of thermal comfort, as it greatly reduces the direct solar energy transfer into the vehicle interior. One of the advantages of this technology is that it quickly prevents the interior from heating up when parking in the sun, reducing the need for air conditioning.
Integrated Antenna
Tennafit is an integrated antenna that can be applied to all types of glass and is practically invisible. Compared to normal antennas, they have several advantages, such as a higher quality of the received signal, low interference due to the sensitivity of radio interference with other electrical systems and practically no wind noise and vibrations.
How do I know which technology is integrated into my windscreen?
Pictograms are small symbols that can be found within the glass' logos and indicate which technology is integrated. If you have purchased a technology in your replacement glass, check whether the pictogram is visible on the glazing. In imported vehicles and in other countries, further technologies can be found in the glass that complement the extensive innovation catalog from Saint-Gobain Sekurit.
